South Coast Lumber Company is seeking a skilled Painter/Carpenter to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing surfaces on industrial equipment, buildings, and wood products, as well as performing carpentry work to maintain quality, durability, and appearance in our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation & Painting:

• Prepare metal, wood, and concrete surfaces by cleaning, sanding, priming, and masking as needed.
• Apply paint, stains, coatings, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Ensure proper adhesion and durability of coatings on industrial structures, machinery, and wood.
• Inspect surfaces for damage and wear, performing touch-ups and repairs as necessary.
• Maintain painting equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and storage.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines for mixing and applying coatings.
• Monitor environmental conditions to ensure proper drying and curing of finishes.
• Follow all company safety protocols, including proper PPE use.
• Properly handle and dispose of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
• Work in compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.

Carpentry & Construction:

• Perform carpentry tasks such as installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fixtures.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood or other materials to precise dimensions for various building projects.
• Assist with the construction, renovation, and improvement of company facilities.
• Repair or replace broken or damaged structures.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure carpentry work meets safety and quality standards.
• Assist in building or maintaining wood products for various production needs.

General Responsibilities:

• Work independently or with a team to complete projects efficiently.
• Communicate with supervisors and maintenance teams to prioritize tasks.
• Assist with special projects and facility improvements as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or residential painting (preferred).
• 2+ years of carpentry experience, with a focus on industrial or facility-related projects (preferred).
• Experience with airless sprayers, conventional spray guns, and brush/roller applications.
• Proficient in the use of carpentry tools, saws, and woodworking machinery.
• Knowledge of paint types, stains, sealants, and protective coatings for wood and metal surfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced industrial environments.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long durations.

Schedule & Compensation

• Shift: Day
• Pay: Competitive wages based on experience ($24.83 - $26.45)
• Schedule: 5+ days a week – 40-44 hours per week (typically two 10-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts)
• Days off will be during the week
